The Stud The stud was founded 25 years ago initially with the Ffynonwen Prefix. The first Welsh Cob we bred was a filly Ffynonwen Alexis who was born in 1984. She was top priced animal at The Spring Sale in 1989 and went on later to win the Novice Mare Class at the Royal Welsh Show. The Prefix was changed to Abergavenny in 1986 for geographic reasons. The stud has now grown in size, we have five Welsh Cob Stallions at the stud. We also keep around twenty mares which have all been carefully picked as part of a strict breeding plan. The stud has produced many horses to go on to do very well under saddle, two of these being Abergavenny J.R and Abergavenny Nobility. Whilst the stud has been growing so have the children and they are now taking an interest in showing and in the Section A's and C's. We only have one Section A and several Section C's at the moment!!! |
